Wexford Arts Centre Gig was “Brill”!

Monday, 17, November, 2008

It was a sell-out gig (with a waiting list of plenty). And from what we’ve been hearing, the show was “brilliant”. So, if you were there, please let us hear from you. And if you took photos, please send them in.

The gig in Wexford was brilliant!! Mick Flannery has an amazing voice it would make the hair on your neck stand up. Can’t wait to see more of him.

I was at the gig in Wexford. It was absolutely brilliant. I hope anyone who is lucky enough to hear Mick in this intimate mini tour he’s on at the minute enjoys it, because he’s too good to be playing these small venues for much longer. Which is a pity really, his gravelly voice, heartfelt piano playing and his seductive guitar playing are ideal for such venues.
The gig was a huge success, despite the technical difficulties with his guitar about 4 songs in, and his violin player almost getting electrocuted. Twice. My advice; see him now. You’ll be talking about it for weeks. The supoport act, Stewart Agnew was class also.
One downer. Two idiots sitting behind me seemed to be having a drunken row from start to finish, and in time honoured fashion, they forgot how to whisper, like a drunk in a choir. They had too much vino, and detracted from my enjoyment of the music a little, as did the people coming in late, a pet hate of mine, especially considering I’d driven 2 hours to be there on time, and the gig actually kicked off a little later than advertised. But these were all minor things, and the music was top class.
